Virginia born and Brooklyn-raised musical artist Bill Bell is a NYC singer-songwriter, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist who has just released his first full-length self-produced CD of original material entitled "Cruel Or Unaware". The album is a culmination of years of performing music in various genre/with many diverse artists and a lifelong interest in and study of the craft of songwriting. Bill's current live band (known for now as simply "Bill Bell Band"), is a young talented ensemble featuring: Dennis Lichtman on violin, clarinet, mandolin and guitar; Rich Hinman on pedal steel and guitar; Dan Asher on bass and backing vocals; Randy Schrager on drums and backing vocals and Bill Bell on vocals, guitar and keyboard. The songs can best be described as concise, literate, eclectic and melodic pop rock with room for occasional extended improvisation. Stylistic/genre influences include: soul, punk, country, jazz, grunge, reggae, electronic, avant-garde and others. However, for all of the influences and instrumental diversity the sound of the material and band is distinctive and accessible. In years past Bill has been the lead guitarist/mandolinist and co-writer with the rock group The Path. He has also worked as a sideman on various instruments with Sara Wendt(Homer Erotic), Ann Klein, Mary Lee Kortes(Mary Lee's Corvette), Fiona McBain(Ollabelle), Mad Cow Town, Jennifer Milich, Chad Parson, Alien Life and many others. Bill is currently performing in NYC and the tri-state area; is actively booking in live music venues and is seeking artist management and CD distribution.
